PUBLIC EDUCATION COURSES WE OFFER FOR COMMUNITY AGENICES/ORGANIZATIONS

A Coast Guard Auxiliary's cornerstone mission has always involved educating the public and other agencies on boating safety. Our classes provide valuable information, allowing you to interact and work one-on-one with seasoned boaters. Your local Twin Ports Flotilla offer educational opportunities for the boating public and other local, state, federal agencies and organizations. Public Education Courses We Offer: We offer a variety of courses for the public including:

 About Boating Safely (8 hour beginner's course), which is a new course that will replace America's Boating Course as the approved course by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

We also offer the Basic and Full versions of the Auxiliary's renowned Boating Skills and Seamanship Course (The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) course is a comprehensive course designed for both the experienced and the novice boater. The course, now in its 13th edition published in 2007, consists of 6 core required two- to four-hour lessons 2 added optional lessons that are normally included in the core course, plus five elective lessons, providing up-to-date knowledge for handling boats in all conditions).

Additionally, youth organizations, scout troops, and school groups can contact us for public education offerings that will suit their specific needs. Our public education staff are happy to provide specialized boating safety training to local, state, and other federal agencies including city and county fire/rescue organizations.

The following are other courses we offer:  America's Boating Course (8 hour beginner's course), Basic Coastal Navigation (10 hour course), Advanced Coastal Navigation (10 week course), Boating Skills & Seamanship (16 hour intermediate course), Navigation with GPS (2 hour seminar), Boating for Kids (short course).
